While there are a number of things that contribute to your air compressor functioning optimally, the role of its air intake is vitally important. It is essential that the intake air is clean and clear. Dirty, contaminated intake air or moisture can hamper the normal functioning of air compressors causing them to perform below efficiency levels. Moisture or contaminants can also damage the internal parts of your compressors resulting in costly repairs and downtime.

Given the importance of intake air for compressors, it is important that you monitor it to ensure it’s clean and capable of providing optimal efficiency.

The easiest and moist effective way of ensuring clean and plentiful compressed air to to utilize bother air filters and pressure gauges.  Gauges can show if the compressor is operating at peak performance while the filters remove contaminants for intake air.

You should install a compressor intake air filter in a clean and cool location. Compressor manufacturers usually supply or recommend only a specific grade of intake air filter that is designed specifically for the compressor that you own. The quality of filtration at the compressor inlet decides the maintenance need of the compressor. The better the quality, the lower the maintenance requirements. The gauge also helps monitor the state of the filter. If you are having problems reaching the desired pressure, the usual culprit is a dirty filter. The filter canusually be cleaned it it’s dirty though if the filter is in any way damaged, it should be replaced.
