Air compressors are used in a wide range of industries, found in everything from art studios to mechcanic garages. Having such a diverse field of applications means that often, these air compressors are required in places that are hard to reach — remote locations, difficult terrain, and possibly a lack of electric connections.

All of these challenges point to the usefulness of a gas truck-mounted air compressor for your business. If you are in the market for a compressor, be sure to read our more general air compressor buyer's guide that contains important information about truck-mounted gas air compressors that you should know before investing in one.

Factors to consider when purchasing a gas truck-mounted air compressor

Truck-mounted compressors run on gasoline, as the name suggests, and don't need an external power source to operate properly. They also come with special structures that make them convenient to mount on a truck bed, meaning wherever your truck goes, a compressor can too.

Duty cycle - The duty cycle or ability to run at maximum capability for extended periods of time will depend largely on the configuration of the compressor. A single-stage piston compressor will give you bare minimum efficiency, whereas a two-stage piston type or rotary screw compressor will significantly improve the duty cycle. Your decision will hinge on the compressor's purpose and if you need it to run constantly.

Repairs - Maintenance and repair work are important factors to consider, knowing that if your compressor faces trouble in a remote location you will be left high and dry while your work timelines are pushed back. Piston-type compressors are easier to maintain but suffer from quicker wear and tear that requires more frequent maintenance.

Price variation - In the gas truck-mounted compressor segment, a single-stage piston compressor usually costs less than a two-stage piston type. The rotary screw will usually be the most expensive of the lot when all other factors (such as capacity and size) are the same. However, there are always promotions of the weeks and specials running at Compressor World, where these compressors are available at amazing deals.
